Keeping in view the energy crisis in the country, Nishat Chunian Limited has also ventured into the power business and has setup an Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a capacity of 200 MW. The plant is situated at 66 km Lahore Multan Road and supplies electricity to the national grid under a contract with the National Transmission and Despatch Company Ltd (NTDCL).

The plant has been set up under a 25 year ‘take or pay’ agreement with NTDCL. Energy payments shall be made on the basis of electricity supplied whereas Capacity payments shall be made on the basis of availability of plant. The company started its commercial operations on July 21, 2010.
